PixelJam DEMOSCENE PARTY @ NOTACON CONFERENCE
April 12th-15th, 2012; Cleveland, OH, US

JOIN US @ PixelJam 2012 FOR THE GLITCH / ARTWARE + the newGame++ COMPOs!

We are now an official part of PixelJam, a DEMOSCENE party that welcomes the GLITCHSCENE && critical glitch artware demo crews!

"PixelJam is a new take on the traditional North American demoparty. Our goal is to provide a place where coders, creators, musicians, artists can express themselves and showcase their talents.

PixelJam is a distinct entity within the NOTACON arts and technology conference, created to support, expand and transform the demoscene. As PixelJam is an integral part of NOTACON, participants of one event are also participants in the other. This year we are teaming up with the awesome folks at criticalartware on some categories, including Glitch/Artware and newGame++.

Combined NOTACON and PixelJam attendance generally hovers around 400 people with an event space of over 15,000 square feet. A large and distinct PixelJam lounge space is available all weekend. This space includes a high quality 1080p projector and high end audio system, as well as plenty of space and power for creators to set up camp and work. Those who are unable to attend the event are encouraged to send in remote entries, where allowed. Remember, though, only winners at the event can receive prizes!

Since this is an event for the scene, your entries and support will make it a success. Everyone involved with PixelJam looks forward to seeing you!" - Froggy, PixelJam && NOTACON organizer

We're also gunna has a Dirty New Media Glitch/Artware Dungeon Party Environment @ NOTACON 2012! && we're gunna give sum workshops on:

ART GAMES LAN PARTY @ NOTACON 2011!

We (jonCates, Jake Elliott + Tamas Kamenczy) organized an awesum ART GAMES LAN PARTY @ NOTACON 2011! We organized && threw down an intense tournament style shootout for artgamer supremacy in the WWWhyrld's first ever Artgames LAN Party!

“jonCates | Jake Elliott | Tamas Kamenczy

Artgames LAN Party

WORLD'S FIRST ART GAMES LAN PARTY

Synopsis
Like any medium that has achieved a critical popular mass, strange and intoxicating activity in video games is happening at the margins, between the cracks and out in the shed. These are the games that make us question “is this really a game?” and “who would do this?” and “why?”… From zero-button games like Cory Arcangel’s “Super Mario Clouds” to existentialist platformers like Cactus’ “Psychosomnium,” we’ll share, discuss, play and ultimately throw down tournament style to establish artgamer supremacy in the first ever Artgames LAN Party, a titanic clash of sensitivities & aesthetics sure to shake loose the stars from our crude, pixelated skybox.

Bio
Jake Elliott, Tamas Kemenczy and jonCates are artists from Chicago who create and teach Art Games and Indie Games. Together they have created Art Games which have been exhibited internationally in Art contexts. Individually and together they have and are developing Indie Games that are widely reviewed and played. They have also participated in the last several Notacon events as the “critical artware” demo crew." - NOTACON 2011

Mark Beasley entered BLOCKPARTY @ NOTACON 2009 wit teh artware demo: Kernel Tunnel !
Mark Beasley wwwrites: "A couple of weekends ago I went to a great conference + event in Cleveland, OH called Notacon.

Blockparty is a demoparty that was on the 02nd night of the conference. I was one of 03 artwarez demos submitted to the artware category. I submitted this OS artware demo to the competition. Attached is the code 4 the projx!

It's a purely OS demo that uses XP windows32 api methods to make sound + visuals (no external windowing/sound/event libraries) using Dialogbox windows ++ system.beep (alert beep that takes a frequency + duration [hellya]) to make sound. It does require that you download the win32 python bindings so that I can utilize all those luvly/archaic win32 sys.methods.

Kernel Tunnel (requires windows + python and the pywin32 python library)"
